Thick or thin, hard or soft…what pillow is best for me?
We help you to choose the right pillow for the best rest
Exclusive Traveler Club members can enjoy an extensive pillow menu and choose their perfect fit at any of our Home Resorts in the Caribbean. But how do you know which one is right for you?
We did the research for you and want to share the secrets to easily choosing the perfect pillow.
The first thing to take into account is that the head, neck and spine should be aligned. In fact, that is what a pillow does for you while you sleep.
The pillow’s width should always be the same as your shoulders and its thickness depends on what position you sleep in:
- Face down: a thin or very fluffy pillow works best.
- Face up: 12 to 13 centimeters is the ideal thickness.
- On your side: depends on the width of your shoulders. The wider your shoulders, the thicker the pillow. The goal is to properly align the head and neck with the spine.
You should also take into account the material with which the pillow is made, since the pillow’s firmness greatly affects its actual thickness when you lay your head down to rest.
TIP: Stop snoring
One of the things that worries people most at bedtime is snoring, not only because it could be a sign of a respiratory problem but because it can also make it hard for those in the same bed to get a good night’s rest.
The best position to prevent snoring or other breathing problems while sleeping is on your side and with your spine straight. People breathe better in this position and, combined with the right pillow, get more restful sleep.
