A must-visit place in the Dominican Caribbean: Bayahíbe

A must-visit place in summer is the Bayahibe area, located in the east of the Dominican Republic.

This place is a true paradise with turquoise blue water, lush palm trees, and fine, pure white sand that delights visitors. The area of Bayahibe is part of the province of La Altagracia because it is very near La Romana and similar coasts.

This magical place has gone from being a quiet fishing village to an excellent tourist area that is visited more and more often by foreigners from all over the world who are visiting this amazing, unique Caribbean island.

In addition, thanks to the warm temperatures throughout the 12 months of the year, it is always a good time to visit this destination. In general, the average temperature of the area is 78ºF, while the temperature of the sea remains constant at 78 to 82ºF.

For those of you who want to enjoy the sun as much as possible, please note that the best time is during the winter season (between December and April) when there is less rainfall and temperatures are cooler than during the summer months.

The five must-visit places in Bayahibe are:

  • El Parque Nacional del Este

This reserve is famous for being the habitat of thousands of species of flora and fauna, many of which are endemic to the region. Through the dry forest, you will be guided along a trail to the impressive Cueva del Puente, known for its large size and spacious interior spaces. You will be surprised by the image of a gigantic century-old tree that crosses through the ceiling in search of the sun’s rays.

  • Padre Nuestro Trail

This place is the second-largest protected area in the Dominican Republic. You can take a magical tour to explore many natural wonders, and you can also dive into an underground spring inside the Chico Cave to cool off.

  • Saona Island

Without a doubt, it is one of the most beautiful places in the Dominican Republic. People usually visit it by taking a huge catamaran until they reach the coast of the island, where you might be able to see a beautiful fishing village called Mano Juan. Once you are on the island, you can enjoy its crystal clear waters and enchanting beach.

  • Isla Catalina

It is considered the country’s second-largest island after Isla Saona. It has one of the most beautiful beaches in the world as its shores are covered with coral reefs, exotic fish, starfish, and other colorful species. It is a beautiful environment surrounded by crystal clear, calm water with a perfect temperature. Plus, if you usually dive, this is the best place for this activity.

  • Altos de Chavón

This place is home to a replica of a medieval villa, built in stone with a colonial style that amazes everyone. On the edge of a canyon that leads to the Chavón River is the amphitheater, considered one of the most outstanding stages in the world. This outdoor venue has hosted big shows by international artists such as Frank Sinatra, Sting, Elton John, Carlos Santana, Juan Luis Guerra, Plácido Domingo, and many more.
